Jesus Christ Is My Creator – Hymn Lyric

In this hymn, we are reminded of the awe-inspiring power and love of Jesus Christ, our Creator. From the formation of the sea, earth, and air, to His humble birth as a man, Jesus remains the foundation upon which all of nature stands. Through His sacrifice, we find solace, redemption, and eternal life.

Jesus Christ Is My Creator

Jesus Christ is my Creator,
He formed sea and earth and air;
Nature’s pillars stand unshaken
On his power and constant care.

By his fingers for a dwelling
Was heaven’s vault sublime upreared:
Jesus suffered when to save us
He as man on earth appeared.

Lofty Angels! God-like spirits,
Clad in robes of ‘living light’:
He who gave you all your glories,
Him you worship day and night,
Made his tent in human nature
That in Him should man confide:
Your Delight, your Source, and Centre
Died-for man a Ransom died.

Vast encircling Space! whose confines
Stretch beyond creation’s pole!
Worlds of magnitude appalling
In thee unobstructed roll:

He in whom thou art contained,
Spread at first and peopled thee,
Lay, an infant, in the manger,
Died, a man, upon the tree.

Countless Stars! through darkness peering;
Silent sentinels of night!
Worlds are ye of radiant brightness-
Points to feeble human sight:
He who spake and ye were kindled,
And will be, when ye grow dim,
Sun of souls, and Noon of heaven-
Grief and death enshrouded HIM.

Planets! with the Earth concentric,
Speeding on your trackless ways,-
Speeding in unbroken order
From your distant primal days!
He whose arm put you in motion-
Who your orbits vast designed,
Here was born a helpless infant,
Here for sin his life resigned.

Sun! the unexhausted fountain,
Whence flow warmth and genial light,
By whom Day to us is given
Loaded with untold delight!
He who hath with glory charged thee
That we may not rudely gaze,
Was on Calvary obscured-
Well thou dark’nedst with amaze.

Moon! who star-attended glidest
Through the sky with queenly grace;
Shining now in placid splendor,
Veiling now with clouds thy face:
He who hides thee-brings light to thee
From that sun, whose Sun is He,
Was eclipsed,-his beams were clouded,
On the ignominious tree.

Thunder! who within thy cradle
Of the sable cloud dost rock:
Rolling through expanse of heaven,
Shaking earth with fearful shock!
He who overawes the nations,
In thy mighty noise confessed,
Groaned and sighed with troubled spirit,
By our guilt and sin oppressed.

Lightning wild! thy child the Thunder,
Thou dost wrap the world in fire:
Sodom perished by thee stricken,
Doomed by Heaven’s long-slumbering ire.
He who formed thee-could command thee
Earth to cleanse and man to slay,
Gave Himself an expiation-
Saved by death from Death his prey.

Tempests! who disclose the caverns,
Dungeons drear beneath the seas,
Toying with the proudest navies,
Hurling down the giant trees:
He who curbs your wildest fury,
Calms you like to infant’s breath,
As a lamb Himself surrendered,
Bowed his reverend head in death!

Peer of Angels! space outreaching.
Stars, sun, moon, thy grandeur show;
Thunder, lightning, earthquake, tempest,
Less in might sublime than THOU!
For thy welfare, haughty Rebel,
Thee from error back to bring,
Jesus meekly bore thine insults:
Weep-repent-believe-and sing!

Jesus Christ Is My Creator: Reflections on the Power and Love of God

In the depths of our hearts, we hold a firm belief that Jesus Christ is our Creator. Through the verses of this beautiful hymn, we are reminded of the awe-inspiring power of our Lord and Savior. From the moment of creation, when He formed the sea, the earth, and the air, Jesus has been the foundation upon which all of nature stands.

The pillars of nature, through His constant care, remain unshaken. It is through His divine fingers that the vault of heaven was upreared, a sublime dwelling for all the wonders of the universe. Yet, despite His almighty power, Jesus chose to walk among us as a man, to suffer and save us from our sins.

To the lofty angels, those God-like spirits clad in robes of living light, it is Jesus whom they worship day and night. He, who bestowed upon them all their glories, made His tent in human nature so that we, as humans, could find solace and trust in Him. The angels’ delight, their source, and their center became a ransom for mankind’s salvation.

Oh vast encircling space, whose limits stretch beyond creation’s pole! In this infinite expanse, countless worlds of magnitude roll unobstructed. It is in Jesus, in whom all things are contained, that the universe finds its origin. As an infant, He lay in a lowly manger, and as a man, He died upon a tree, embracing all of humanity with His love and mercy.

Glimmering stars, you peer through the darkness as silent sentinels of the night. To feeble human eyes, you appear as radiant points of brightness. It is Jesus who spoke and ignited your brilliance, and it is He who will remain when you grow dim. He is not just the sun for our souls but also the noon of heaven. Even in the shroud of grief and death, He remains triumphant.

Planets, you speed through the vastness of space on your trackless ways. Since your distant primal days, you have journeyed in unbroken order, guided by the arm of the One who set you in motion. And here, in the midst of this cosmic dance, Jesus was born as a helpless infant, fully surrendering His life for the sake of our redemption.

Oh, radiant sun, the unexhausted fountain from which warmth and genial light flow! It is by His will that you deliver the gift of day, laden with untold delight. He has charged you with glory, making it impossible for us to gaze upon you forcefully. Yet, on Calvary, in His obscured state, you darkened with awe and amazement.

Moon, you glide through the sky with queenly grace, sometimes shining with placid splendor, and at other times veiling your face with clouds. He who hides you and brings light to you is the same as the Sun from whom your light originates. On the ignominious tree, His beams were clouded, for He willingly embraced the darkness of our sin and shame.

Thunder, you rock within your cradle of sable cloud, rolling through the expanse of heaven and shaking the earth with your fearful shock. It is He who overawes nations, whose mighty noise is a testament to His power. And yet, this same thunderous Healer and Sovereign groaned and sighed with a troubled spirit, burdened by our guilt and sin.

Wild lightning, you are the child of thunder, wrapping the world in fire and bringing destruction upon those who have strayed. Sodom and Gomorrah perished under your strike, condemned by Heaven’s long-slumbering ire. But the One who formed you can also command you to cleanse the earth and save humanity from despair. He achieved this by offering Himself as an expiation, conquering death and freeing us from its grasp.

Tempests, you reveal the hidden caverns and dungeons beneath the seas, toying with the proudest navies and toppling giant trees. It is He who tames your wildest fury, calming your destructive force with the gentle breath of an infant. Like a sacrificial lamb, He surrendered Himself for us, bowing His reverent head in death, that we might find peace and salvation.

Peer of angels, you surpass in power, stretching beyond the reaches of space itself. The stars, sun, moon, thunder, lightning, and tempests all pale in comparison to your might and grandeur. Yet, for the sake of a haughty rebel like me, Jesus meekly bore insults and degradation. As we weep for our transgressions, repent of our sins, and believe in His redeeming power, we find cause to rejoice and sing His praises.

In contemplating these reflections, we are humbled by the boundless power of Jesus Christ, our Creator. From the vastness of the universe to the smallest moments of our daily lives, His hand is present, lovingly guiding and caring for us. May we always hold firm to the knowledge that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by His divine hand, and that through His sacrifice, we are granted eternal life. Let us sing with grateful hearts, “Jesus Christ is my Creator!”
